Begin with what draws you here
Wildlife, coast, landscapes, food and city life each suggest a different route. Pick the two or three experiences that matter most before trying to join every famous place on a map.
Count full days, not just nights
Three nights usually give you two full days in a place. A one-night stop may leave little more than an arrival and departure, especially when flights and transfers are involved.
Make travel days honest
A short flight can still mean packing, an airport transfer, check-in and another transfer at the far end. It’s often better to enjoy fewer places properly than spend the journey moving between them.
Let the season influence the route
Southern Africa’s climate is not uniform. Cape Town’s winter rainfall and the drier safari winter in the Kruger region can occur at the same time. Choose the combination with its trade-offs in mind.
Keep a little flexibility
Weather-dependent visits and wildlife activities need room to move. A well-paced journey allows for a changed plan without feeling like a missed holiday.
